Dear Family and Friends,

The weekend of October 18, 2002, I will be participating in a very special and powerful event to aide in the fight against Breast Cancer. It is called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day and I would like to tell you about it.

I will trek 60 miles from Santa Barbara to Malibu with over 3,000 other courageous people to raise money for Breast Cancer research, education and early detection efforts. The event benefits The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which will spread its funds nationwide to non-profit organizations for these services.

Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Both its cause and the means for its cure remain unknown. Currently, one million American women have the disease, but don’t know it, and probably will not know about their potentially fatal disease for another five to eight years!

That’s why I am walking….to do something BIG! I agreed to raise a minimum of $1,900.00, but am setting my sights higher…to $3,500.00. This walk and fundraising is a small challenge compared to the challenge that breast cancer victims face.

I am seeking your support in helping me obtain this goal, and thus helping women worldwide. Would you please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to help me meet my goal by March 1st? Also, please keep in mind how far I am walking and how long I will have to train for the 3-Day between now and October. By then, I will have walked at least 1,200 miles in training efforts!
